Due to some safety concerns for the girls home in Tegucigalpa- the board made the decision to go ahead and move all the girls to the Zamorano property. At this time only 3 structures had been built - a large barn with a farm caretakers apartment attached, the transitional living home (which in theory would have 2-3 “aged out” girls residing in it as they transition to the real world and adult life, and lastly the directors home.
We had to make some adaptations and temporary adjustments. The barn would have to be a multi-purpose structure- school, chapel, community center, etc. while the farm caretakers apartment would be converted to the main kitchen and CDA offices.
The transitional living home would have to house all the girls (except the original 3 girls that are now foster children of Michael and Karen). The Directors home would house Michael and Karen and the 3 foster daughters. Quarters are tight but it is being made to work!!!
